Affinity Media NE CIC
Affinity Media NE CIC is a Community Interest Company delivering community-focused broadcasting and creative engagement across the North East of England. We operate Affinity Radio, a not-for-profit community radio station serving South Shields, Tynemouth, Newcastle, and Gateshead.
Broadcasting from our state-of-the-art studios in Pelaw, Affinity Radio provides a trusted local voice for the region. Our programming includes great music, local news, community stories, and live coverage of major regional events such as the Great North Run, Armed Forces Day, South Tyneside Parade Day, EAT! Festival, and Tidal Trails. We broadcast on DAB Digital Radio, online, mobile devices, and smart speakers, ensuring our content is accessible to audiences wherever they are.
Beyond broadcasting, Affinity Media NE CIC delivers radio and media workshops in partnership with organisations from the creative industries across the North East. A key delivery partner is Mendes Management Ltd, a company specialising in performing arts, pantomime production, and alternative education provision.
Working closely with Mendes Management Ltd, we deliver workshops to young people across the North East, including those engaged through schools, charities, local authorities, and alternative provision settings. This partnership enables us to reach young people who may be at risk of exclusion or face barriers to participation, offering creative, engaging, and supportive learning opportunities.
Our workshops provide hands-on experience in:

- Recording and studio production
- Interviewing and communication skills
- Podcasting and content creation
- Teamwork, confidence building, and self-expression
Through this work, we aim to develop skills, raise aspirations, improve confidence, and create pathways into media and the creative industries, while also supporting social, emotional and mental wellbeing.
